We finally redecorated our master bedroom, and I couldn’t be more excited! Since we moved into our new house a couple years ago, it’s the one room we’ve done absolutely nothing to (well, aside from the kitchen which is a whole other story), and we decided it was time to make it something we looked forward to seeing every night! Baby girl was evicted at about 5 months old, and we went to town! We were on a tight budget, and we were able to do everything for under $2,000. It can be done!
Here’s a picture tour of our room! I linked the pieces that I could, but I love shopping at places like Homegoods for unique finds that can’t be found online. The lamps, end tables, gold basket, beach paintings, wreath, blue ottoman, macrame hanging, faux fur throw and some of the pillows all can’t be linked. Sorry! But that’s some of the fun in shopping and designing, right? Hunting for those perfect pieces that bring everything together.
When it comes to decorating, I believe you can either start big OR small with your inspiration. If you start big, buy a large piece like an area rug or bed and then build everything around that particular item. If you start small, find something like a pillow that you adore and use that as a springboard moving forward. Carry a picture of that item while shopping to remember the details and why you love it so much. For myself, we actually purchased the headboard first since we upgraded to a King size bed a few months ago. It’s not my dream headboard by any means, but I like it. It doesn’t have as much of a midcentury feel as I like so I wanted the other large pieces to have that feel and shape. I also knew I wanted my nightstands to be different than my dressers for a more eclectic look. Truly, the only thing we splurged on (besides our amazing mattress!) was the bedding. It’s important to be comfy at night, don’t you agree?
Thanks for stopping by and hope you enjoy it as much as we do (and if you don’t, that’s okay, too!)
xoxo, Heidi
