Two things I love: holidays that make it possible to spend an extra day together as a family and finding a new place to explore! This past Memorial Day, we hopped in the car and drove about an hour out to explore a little gem called Myrtle Creek Botanical Gardens and Farm. It’s just 15 minutes past my parents’ house which is even better because it means finishing the day at Nana and Grandpa’s!
This place is free admission and just packed full of beautiful spots! There’s a full nursery with gorgeous flowers and plants for sale. There are walking trails, waterfalls, a pond, gardens, lawns and a little farm house with goats to feed. There’s the cutest little cafe with pastries, farm-fresh sandwiches and salads … and coffee of course! The Myrtle Berry pie was THE best and we paired it with the fresh lemonade which was wonderful. They also put all your food into a basket and you can grab one of their blankets and picnic! Adorable, right?
My poor hubby didn’t make it into any of the pictures. Whoops! He was either wearing a baby so I could snap photos of Chloe or HE was the photographer. Next time!
We had a blast exploring the grounds, hunting for newts and butterflies, feeding goats and picnicking. We will be sure to come back again and again. What’s one of your favorite local spots to spend a morning, afternoon or an entire day?

Heather, it’s so much fun! We should meet up there on a weekday! It’s about 15 minutes past my parents’ house in Fallbrook.
