Okay, it’s time for a Friday Favorites Roundup! I’m teaming up with these other blogger mamas to share with you our favorite home decor items and trends:
Home decor is a serious passion of mine. Before becoming a teacher, my heart was set on being an interior designer. I love decorating a space and making it feel like home. My tastes have changed over the years, but I am currently loving a mid-century modern meets modern farmhouse vibe with a little Scandinavian thrown in. Is that a thing? It doesn’t really matter, right? Your home should reflect your personal style, whatever that may be!
My first favorite on the list are baskets! Baskets are both decorative and functional, which I love and I literally have baskets of all shapes and sizes in every room in my house! I use large baskets on the floor for extra throw pillows and blankets and smaller baskets for small items such as the remotes in the TV room or organizing kitchen items on the counter. My girls both have baskets in their rooms for stuffed animals and books (I love a basket next to a chair or reading nook filled with most-loved books!) Baskets also look great holding a plant or even stuffed with kids toys! I’ve added photos of baskets from around my house and below them, I’ve linked some of my favorite baskets you can find online right now!

Next up on the list is throw pillows! Safe to say, I’m obsessed. Much to my husband’s dismay, I have lots of pillows on our bed and couches (and extra in baskets because I love the homey look it gives!) I like an eclectic feel when it comes to choosing decorative pillows so think mixing up colors, patterns and textures. Throw pillows are the perfect way to add pops of color and texture to a space as well. I also love the tip from Ashley, creator of Arrows and Bow on Instagram, who encourages using pillow covers so they can be swapped out when you need a change! Below my photos, I’ve linked some of my favorite pillows, both affordable and splurges!

My third favorite is not a trend, but a single item! I picked up this table in store on a sale, but it’s available online in two colors. I love this side table. Although it may not be everyone’s style, I think it’s fun and adds a lot of interest to a space. It’s next to my couch and houses our remote basket and a plant. It’s kid-friendly and very sturdy so that’s a win for us moms!
Fourth on my list is styling a kids’ room by including things that are meaningful to them. I love the idea of framing their own artwork and hanging it on their wall or what I’ve done in Chloe’s room – I have her personalized Disneyland hat hanging on a rack on her wall as well as her favorite Halloween costume from last year which triples as something pretty AND something she can wear for dress-up in an easily accessible way. I think using these personal touches as decor in a child’s room is so warm and comforting 🙂
My last home decor favorite is finding ways to make your decor functional. This is especially great for minimalist lovers. Some examples in my own home are hanging my hats on the wall (or wall rack!) as decor (but I also wear these!) and hanging my necklaces on these gorgeous driftwood hangers I found on Etsy. Open shelves are also a great example of functional design. You might display kitchen dishes that you use or your children’s books.
I hope you enjoyed my Friday Favorites and maybe gained a little inspiration for your own home! Be sure to check out my gal pals to see their home decor favs as well!
xoxo,
Heidi
