Children’s Christmas Books 2020

Kids & Learning

30 Nov

Children’s books are one of my most favorite things, and Christmas books for children take the cake!  I’ve rounded up a TON of Christmas books, and have written personal notes about the ones we own and love.  This is such a comprehensive list (over 80 books!), and I know you will find a new book to cherish during the Christmas season.  Enjoy browsing!

xoxo,

Heidi

  1. A Christmas Advent Story ~ found this book at Homegoods and it’s very cute with little doors to open for advent.
  2. Nutcracker Night ~ this was a book we checked out from the library last year, and we all loved it. It’s about a little girl who goes to see the Nutcracker for the first time. The book is written using sensory words for all the things the little girl heard at the ballet.
  3. The Little Reindeer ~ purchased this a gift for the girls. We absolutely love The Little Kitten for Halloween and we are excited for the Christmas version.
  4. Share Some Kindness, Bring Some Light ~ this is new to us this year and isn’t specifically a Christmas book per se, but fits the theme perfectly with snow and gift-giving. It is a heartwarming story about kindness and acceptance.
  5. Max’s Christmas ~ I had to add this book to my list because it is an old classic that reminds me of being a kid. We had this book growing up and it’s just so fun!
  6. Talulah’s Nutcracker ~ we love Talulah and all her dancing adventures!
  7. Waltz of the Snowflakes ~ this book is completely wordless and so fun to tell the story using our own imaginations.

8. Little Robin’s Christmas ~ this is a sweet book about generosity that we bought last year with lovely illustrations.

9. How Winston Delivered Christmas ~ a fun book that is divided into chapters for advent. Comes with activities to do all season long.

10. The Story of Holly and Ivy ~ this one is on my list! Looks very sweet.

11. Last Stop on the Reindeer Express ~ one of the most beautifully illustrated stories you’ll ever see. So magical and whimsical. A must.

12. Jesus Calling: The Story of Christmas ~ so excited that this amazing Christian author has written a story for children.

13. The Nutcracker ~ this version looks lovely.

14. Pick a Pine Tree ~ everybody’s favorite Christmas book and for good reason. Love this one.

15. Olive, the Other Reindeer ~ get it? I’ve had my eye on this book for years!

16. Ella Bella Ballerina ~ a sweet girly book that our little elf brought Chloe last Christmas.

17. Snow Sisters ~ bought this for the girls this year. How could I not?

18. The Donkey Who Carried a King ~ always on the lookout for books sharing the true meaning of Christmas.

19. The Nutcracker ~ this board book looks so fun and whimsical for little ones.

20. Mr. Willowby’s Christmas Tree ~ my parents bought this for the girls last year and it’s lots of fun.

21. The Tree that’s Meant to Be ~ on our list! Looks adorable.

22. Maple and Willow’s Christmas Tree ~ we are new fans of Maple and Willow and are excited to read their Christmas book.

23. The Twelve Days of Christmas ~ the classic song with peek-through illustrations.

24. The Remember Tree ~ this is brand new book this year, and it has a lot of heart. A very sweet story about ornaments being passed down in a family tradition.

25. The Magic of Friendship Snow ~ this paperback is really basic inside by design, but the story is incredibly heartwarming.  It’s about sharing friendship, and I got it for the girls because I thought the story was really poignant.

26. Jesus Came for Me ~ a board book for little hands and hearts.

27. The Night Before Christmas ~ a classic story with beautiful and festive illustrations.

28. Dasher ~ I’ve heard so many people say they love this one.

29. The Nutcracker ~ this is a hard one to track down, but we own it and the illustrations are just lovely.

I haven’t posted a craft in forever! We still do I haven’t posted a craft in forever! We still do arts and crafts every week (hello homeschool mom 🙋‍♀️), but I don’t share nearly as much in this space. This was a fun egg carton craft 🥚 ➡️ 🍄 we did recently. Just cut up your carton into mushroom tops, paint them, roll up construction paper with glue (for the stems) and voila!

We headed back to the Bay Area this year, but stayed outside the city for the first time. We absolutely loved San Anselmo. We visited Muir Woods, Point Reyes and spent a day in SF and Sauselito for our fav adventures/spots.
Exploring and enjoying our beautiful state of California never gets old for us 🙌🏻

I don’t know if I’ve ever hopped on a reel/Tik I don’t know if I’ve ever hopped on a reel/TikTok trend, but this one stole my heart ❤️ I had to make my own. Life is beautiful even with all its ups and downs. If I could have seen into the future at 18, I would’ve never imagined this life. So very thankful for breath in my lungs and people to love (and even to miss). Three daughters, though, and a husband sent from heaven 🥹 Truly never could’ve
dreamed.

We got to see the Polar Express ICE exhibit which was phenomenal, meet Santa, decorate a gingerbread house, eat cookies with Mrs. Claus, roast s’mores, go swimming, play mini golf and more! They did such a great job for the kids 🤗 Oh, and my avocado toast made it into the vlog because it was so good, I had it twice 😂

Christmas crafts are my favorite! I think we are g Christmas crafts are my favorite! I think we are going to do this one a few more times in a few more ways because it was so fun and easy 🙌🏻

The girls just wove ribbon into two holes on each side of a tree shape. They chose non-traditional colors, but green would be beautiful, too! This could also be done with one single (long!) piece of ribbon.

Next up, we are going to try it with thin, strong bracelet wire and string beads!

Optional: decorate with buttons, stickers, sequins, etc.
