Chloe asked for an Encanto theme for her birthday party this year, and I may have put my own twist on it. She loved and approved everything though. It was more florals and butterflies than anything, and I really love how it all came together. When it comes to parties, my style is “Pinterest party, but take it down a few notches.” I get all the over-the-top ideas and then tone it down and make it more realistic and do-able. At least that’s how it seems to me!
We rented a pink bounce house from my friend’s business Ivory Party Co and it was so much fun! I made the balloon garland myself using the DIY kit from Lushra. It was such a cinch to make and cost a fraction of what it would have cost to pay a professional.
For activities, I planned two that could also serve as take-home gifts. The girls made bracelets with butterfly and letter beads (highly recommended because of its cost-effectiveness), and painted little clay flower pots to place 2 in. succulent plants in.
I kept food super simple (the party was also 2-4pm so no meal necessary) and just did fresh fruit in individual cups (is it just me or is the idea of tiny fingers touching all the food so gross?), chips and salsa and kettle corn in individual cups, as well as bags of fruit snacks (the Annie’s butterflies, of course). And then simple chocolate and vanilla cupcakes from the grocery store bakery topped with edible butterflies. Pink lemonade was a must for Chloe, and then we had little water bottles and juice boxes on ice (summer birthdays are hot!)
Cookie pops from Frost Your Cookie were an absolute hit and double as beautiful decor for the table, too! The guests each got to choose one to take home 🙂
Fresh flowers are an absolute MUST for any party in my book, so I went to Trader Joe’s and grabbed a bunch of bouquets (so excited the unicorn baby’s breath was still there!) I tied pretty ribbon around the glass mason jar jugs I used as vases and placed little wire butterflies in the tops. I grabbed some ceramic cacti at Target and spray painted them gold, hung paper lanterns in the trees and just placed a few tissue paper flowers around.
I gathered all the place setting goods at Homegoods (love finding Meri Meri party items for cheap).
Chloe had a birthday hat custom made from Little Blue Olive, a favorite (and affordable!) small shop of ours.
I just love birthday parties … even when it’s hectic and I swear I’m not throwing another for a long time! Such sweet special memories made for our girl and her friends.
